Oba! Oba! Oba 🙌🏾 LSS took Notting Hill Carnival across the Solar System 👩🏾🚀
LSS dominated the carnival media coverage, with a double page spread in the Guardian and even the front page of the Financial Times on Tuesday – so maybe we can get some big City sponsors on board! We just about broke even, thanks to generous sponsorship from London New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP) – and LSS is now the official samba band for LNYDP 2024 – our 40th Anniversary.

The ‘Samba through the Solar System’ creative concept was a huge success, and brilliantly executed. Our dancers were organised in several fantastic Alas representing the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Satellites and other heavenly bodies, while the Bateria were immaculately dressed as funked-up sambastronauts, spreading our infectious samba rhythms across the cosmos. All along the 3-hour route, we got the crowds waving and shouting ‘Oba! Oba! Oba!’.

Mercúrio ainda é muito quente, Vênus em nossas lentes, Netuno congelado.
É Júpiter muito gasoso, já pôde ser gostoso viver em Marte
Que teve leitos, rios e minas e a terra contamina água por toda parte
Pensei Saturno e seus anéis, mais de seis x dez luas e electricidade
Vou comercializar metano, trazê-lo Urano comprar felicidade
Recarregar a cada ano carnavalizando o céu por toda parte
Se dentro de nos tem elementos que também tem nas estrelas
Vamo olhar pro céu! Com a London School vem sambar
Um Big Ben que bem faz orbitar!

I’m taking a tamborim, telescope and some drinks in my suitcase
Today I will land on the moon and the journey continues beyond the earth
