the changing attitudes to Santeria in Cuba with Christine Ayorinde; a fashion show; and performances in
the evening from the London Lucumi Choir and some special guests, including baritone singer and
composer, Juwon Ogungbe, and Afro-Peruvian band Malambo! The evening will end with Dj Clandestino
playing the latest in Cuban and Brazilian sounds and afro-beat. We will also be hosting a raffle, a lucky dip
and launching our special international auction, where members of the community can bid for a wide range
of amazing goods and services donated by members of the choir!

The London Lucumi Choir is not regularly funded. Aside from the individual grants we have received from
ACE and BBC Performing Arts Fund for specific projects, we are a completely self-funded initiative. We are
raising funds in order to:

1. Keep the subscription fees to a minimum and to subsidise those who really cannot afford the
subscription fee. We believe that singing is for all!
2. To enable us to perform at community events where there is no pay.
3. To record a repertoire of songs which have never been recorded.
More information on The London Lucumi Choir:

The London Lucumi Choir is the only Afro-Cuban community choir in the world, and it is based right here in
London! The London Lucumi Choir presents a journey deep into the roots of modern Cuban music. Thirty singers and
percussionists recreate the atmosphere of Afro-Cuban spiritual ceremony or ‘tambor’ with an exciting arrangement of
West African rhythms, songs and dance steps that have flourished in Cuba since its colonial times and are at the
heart of Son, Rumba, Timba and Salsa music.

Daniela Rosselson: Musical Director, arranger and lead vocalist
Vocalist, writer and workshop leader Daniela has worked for over 20 years to bring the teachings of Cuban musical
and spiritual traditions to the UK. She has led two acclaimed salsa bands, Salsa Y Ache and Salsasonica in the past,
has facilitated Cuban music workshops to people of all ages, has written about Latin music and now directs and sings
in The London Lucumi Choir, which she co-founded with Afro-Cuban singer extraordinaire Martha Galarraga. Daniela
is also a priestess of Ochún.

The London Lucumi Choir offers a rare chance to learn with its masters. We welcome you to explore the folkloric
traditions of Cuba with dancing, singing and clave ‘feel’ or percussion workshops of all levels suitable for everyone.
